Profile

Dr. Kenneth Chen is a senior consultant uro-oncologist at Singapore General Hospital. He earned his medical degree (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore in 2007 and completed a 6-year residency in Urology with Singhealth and has cleared his specialist board exams with distinction, having obtained the Academy of Medicine, College of Surgeons GOLD medal for best performing advanced surgical trainee in Urology. Besides obtaining membership and fellowship to the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh and Glasgow), he also holds a Masters in Clinical Investigation. 

Dr. Chen specialises in robotic and minimally invasive surgery for genitourinary oncology, having completed an oncology fellowship at the Sir Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia. His academic and research interests include prostate cancer diagnostics, advanced prostate cancer management, and novel device development. He has been awarded a National Medical Research Council (NMRC) grant for work on a drug-eluting stent to treat ureteric diseases. 

In addition to his clinical work and research, Dr. Chen serves as a clinical associate professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and a senior clinical lecturer at the National University of Singapore YLL School of Medicine and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine. He is also involved in the nurturing and training of residents being a Singhealth Physician Faculty for Postgraduate year 1 Program as well as a core faculty member for the Singhealth Urology Residency Program. 

He contributes widely in the hospital, serving as deputy director of the Singapore General Hospital Robotic Surgery Committee, member of the hospital’s Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Research Grant Review Committee, Clinical Translational Research Committee and Clinical Trials & Research Centre (CTRC) Executive Committee and past member of the Singapore General Hospital Medical Board. He is the current treasurer of the Singapore Urological Association. Dr. Chen is also a member of several international committees, including the Société Internationale d'Urologie (SIU) Innovators Committee and the International Bladder Cancer Group (iBCG).
