Profile

​Dr Eric Cher graduated from Duke-NUS Medical School in 2014 following his undergraduate degree in Bioengineering in 2010. He was awarded the NUSS medal, a prestigious recognition given to the best graduate throughout course of study for outstanding all-rounded achievement. 

He went on to further his specialist training in Orthopaedic Surgery. During his training, he won both the “SingHealth Best House Officer” and “SingHealth Outstanding Resident Award” in 2015 and 2017 respectively. He completed his residency training in 2021 and was appointed as Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2022. 

In 2023, he completed his fellowship in “Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) and Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgery” under the mentorship of renowned foot surgeon Dr Peter Lam in Sydney, Australia. He also had the opportunity to work alongside many other esteemed surgeons including Dr Les Grugic, Dr Andy Higgs and Dr Alice Chang. During his fellowship, he furthered his skills in minimally invasive procedures for the foot and ankle as well as arthroscopy surgeries and ankle replacements. 

Dr Eric’s subspecialty practice is in foot and ankle surgery, particularly minimally invasive and arthroscopy surgery. He strongly believes that MIS surgery can greatly benefit patients by reducing their hospital stays and downtime. 

His surgical expertise includes treatment of 
  • Forefoot deformities such as hallux valgus (bunions) and lesser toes deformities
  • Pes planus (flatfoot) and Pes cavus (high arch) deformities 
  • Degenerative conditions of the foot and ankle such as ankle osteoarthritis and midfoot arthritis 
  • Ankle sports injuries such as ligament injuries, tendon disorders and cartilage pathologies 
  • Foot and ankle trauma 

Committed to evidence-based clinical practice, Dr Eric has presented his research work at numerous international conferences, and published articles in many reputable journals. 

Dr Eric is passionate in helping his patients and aspires to push the frontiers of minimally invasive foot and ankle surgery.
