Profile

Dr Lee Jiah Min is a Senior Consultant with 21 years of experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She completed her MBBS degree in NUS in 2002 and her MRCOG in UK London in 2007. She is an accredited MOH specialist since 2011. She has been doing many laparoscopic surgeries since her residency years. She is an avid obstetrician delivering 40-60 babies each month and is well versed in antenatal care and vaginal, assisted vaginal (vacuum and forceps) and caesarean deliveries. She also has a lot of gynecology patients who see her for menstrual problems – heavy irregular, prolonged menses, intermenstrual bleed, postcoital bleed, menstrual pain, pelvic masses or growths, pelvic pain, endometriosis, subfertility and pre conception, pap smear abnormalities, urogynaecological issues and early malignancy.

She specialises in Minimally Invasive Surgery and is an advanced level 3 laparoscopic surgeon for removal of uterus, fibroids, cysts, and endometriosis deposits and adhesions, relieving patients of their pain, heavy menstrual flow and pressure symptoms with fast recovery, minimal pain and minimal scars.

She has in recent 3 years been doing most cases by VNOTES (vaginal natural orifice transendoluminal endoscopic surgery) for hysterectomy, cystectomy, oophorectomy and selected cases for myomectomy. She was the main trainer in the recent VNOTES single port surgery workshop held in KKH on the 13th July 2024. She has learnt the technique since her HMDP in 2013 in Taiwan Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and in recent few years managed to develop the technique for more types of patients and conditions. (including patients with non descent uterus, previous caesarean and large uteri) With VNOTES surgery patients can achieve the same surgical procedure without abdominal incisions hence greatly lessening their pain of recovery from surgery and making it a truly scarless surgery.

She is also an advanced hysteroscopic surgeon and skilled at removing intra uterine polyps, fibroids and intrauterine adhesions, treating heavy menstrual bleeding , pre invasive disease of the womb lining and enhancing fertility with a scarless approach with minimal pain.

She believes in doing minimally invasive surgery as much as possible for patients so that they have enhanced fast recovery with minimal pain.

She has completed her HMDP training in complex pelvic laparoscopic surgery (including benign, oncologic, urogynecological , VNOTES surgeries and hysteroscopic surgeries) in Taiwan Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in 2013 under Prof Lee Chyi Loong.

She is able to deal with large uteruses, fibroids and cysts laparoscopically and cases with difficult adhesions from previous surgeries and endometriosis, releasing pelvic and tubal adhesions and removing endometriosis deposits, endometriotic cysts and adhesions to reduce pain and optimise fertility She is a very careful surgeon with minimal complications.

She had brought in the idea of laparoscopic contained bag morcellation to KKH for uterine fibroids to prevent spread of potential malignancy so that laparoscopic myomectomy could still be possible for patients without open surgery.

Going one step further she has brought in the technique of VNOTES (vaginal natural orifice transendoluminal endoscopic surgery) approach to hysterectomy avoiding the need for any open abdominal or laparoscopic incisions thereby resulting in almost painless and scarless surgery with fast recovery. VNOTES surgery is able to go beyond the normal reach of vaginal hysterectomy due to the camera view and longer reach of laparoscopic instruments used from the vaginal singe port approach. To date she has done more than 100 cases of VNOTES surgeries, for hysterectomy, ovarian cystectomy, oophorectomy and selected cases of myomectomy.

Dr Lee Jiah Min is an accredited colposcopist with the SCCPS (The Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology of Singapore) and does colposcopy for diagnosis and and treatment (LEEP excision and laser vaourisation and laser cone excision of cervical pre invasive conditions of the cervix and pap smear and HPV abnormalities. She has been an accredited and practicing colposcopist since 2012.
